The purpose of the Southern Lepidopterists' Society is to help increase scientific knowledge and public awareness of the Lepidoptera of the southern (US) states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Membership is open to anyone with such interests.

The Society holds an official meeting open to all members once a year.

The Southern Lepidopterists' News, which is published four times annually, is the official newsletter of the Society.
